Anthony

Gerace

UK-based artist and illustrator whose practice explores the ways materiality, surface, and cultural semiotics can engage, creating a body of work that is both of a place and at a remove from it, through a combination of archive building, photomontage and site-specific image-making. Photography and collage function less as concrete mediums than as elements in an evolving methodology geared toward the exploration of historicity, the passage of time, and the experience of being outside of oneself. Rather than situating any given series as a collection of “finished pieces”, interest is instead paid to the totality of the work as a durational, ever-evolving process, taking into account location and form without being wholly reliant on either.
