Hampshire

Luis Hampshire received a Bachelor of Arts from the Universidad del Claustro de Sor Juana (USCJ) in Mexico City. Visual artist, exhibition maker, and co-founder of the nonprofit art space Editions Plan B with Jessica Wozny. He is an independent curator and has organized various collective and individual exhibitions in Oaxaca, Mexico, and abroad.

Hampshire has published articles on contemporary art in various local and national print media, catalogs, and art books. He has taught and participated in symposiums, cycles, workshops, and conferences on art and painting in Mexico City, Oaxaca, Acapulco, Campeche, and New York, U.S.A. He is a professor of the specialty of Painting and the chair of Contemporary Art Escuela de Bellas Artes de la Universidad Benito Juárez de Oaxaca (UABJO) since 2009.  Hampshire was the director at Taller de Artes Plásticas Rufino Tamayo in Oaxaca from 2011 to 2013 and director of the Museo de los Pintores de Oaxaca (MUPO) from 2013 to 2017.
