Mortson

Andrea Mortson (b. 1969) is a Canadian collage artist and painter based in Sackville, New Brunswick. Her practice explores the role of constructed images in feeding humancentric vision and manifesting narcissistic narratives.

Mortson has exhibited nationally and abroad—most recently in Spain as part of The Weird Show’s international exhibition, Los Raros: New Narratives in Contemporary Collage; as well as in MASS MoCA’s travelling survey of contemporary Canadian art, Oh, Canada and Galerie de l’UQAM’s “snapshot of painting in Canada”, Le Projet Peinture. A recipient of the Marie Hélène Allain Fellowship Award, she has been longlisted in both the Sobey Art Award and the RBC Investments Painting Competition. Mortson’s work is represented in private and institutional collections including the Canada Council and New Brunswick Art Banks; Confederation Centre Art Gallery, PEI; Nova Scotia Art Gallery, Halifax, NS; and Owens Art Gallery, Sackville, NB.
