Trevor

Sloan

Trevor Sloan is a songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and collage artist from Toronto. Described as having a “breezy, mystical sound,” his music infuses intimate vocals with acoustic instruments and old synths. Thoughtful with touches of melancholy, the new album A Room by the Green Sea (available September 6, 2024) finds Trevor mixing ethereal indie-folk, pop and mood music; at times, the result is lush and cinematic, at other times it is stripped-down and quiet.

Since the early 2010s, Trevor has been writing and recording, inspired by singer-songwriters of the 60s and 70s and countless contemporary artists. He has released five albums under his own name (previous music was released under the moniker Phono d’enfant). His albums have received press coverage from CBC, Atwood Magazine, Psychedelic Baby Magazine, Also Cool and Cups N Cakes.

Many of the songs on A Room by the Green Sea were inspired by his surroundings on Mayne Island, B.C. where he spent time with family over the last two summers. Trevor would write songs on a borrowed guitar after a day of swimming or hiking, while the boats passed by and the green ocean glimmered outside the window. Recording the music back in his home studio in Toronto, Trevor experimented with his newly repaired Juno-106 keyboard, drums and recordings of nature to augment his folk-pop sound. The album was then mixed and mastered by Andy Magoffin who also added horns to some of the tracks.
