Reach, 2021
Analog collage, 5.5" x 8.5"

Jen Klinedinst creates mixed-media collages with bold colors and playful, surreal shapes. She primarily works from LIFE magazines but also incorporates unique scraps acquired from friends. The saturated color and texture of the paper carry an inherent sense of nostalgia, and her compositions establish a visual universe that is both dreamlike and viscerally familiar.

Heart of Palm, 2018
Analog collage, 5.5" x 8.5"
Watermelon Pickle, 2018
Mixed media analog collage, 5" x 7.5"

My collages are based off dreams or fragments of my mind. Reflection of deep emotions and thoughts focusing on colors, textures and shapes, where memories and nostalgia take on a freeform image. I use the blank pages of vintage books as my canvas because the patina that forms over time is something beautiful and unique to the book’s condition in which it was kept. Adding in other media like oil crayons and paint, pen or marker adds another element of dimension that I absolutely love. It’s just fun.
