Susana Blasco is a multi-disciplinary artist working in Spain. Her mesmerizing collages utilize repetition to deconstruct portraiture in new and intricate ways. The interweaving of fragmented shapes and geometric lines appear as a reconstruction of the past. We find ourselves lost again and again in these compositions as we begin to rebuild the original image in our minds, a cycle that effortlessly commands the attention of any viewer for an extended period of time.
Susana Blasco is a graphic designer, illustrator, and collage artist. All of her work, both graphic and artistic, has a strong symbolic weight, with the concept at the core. Each work is an excuse to experiment, mix, agitate and indulge in play, humor, and multiple interpretations. In her projects, she is especially interested in the exploration of memory, time, the past, oblivion, and women, very frequently using old photographs and found objects that she rescues from flea markets. She also feels a special connection with geometry, fragmentation, repetition, compulsive order, and a specific color range around white and ochre.
