Floating in Space, 2020
Analog collage made with magazine paper, 8 x 8 in.

Lara Rouse creates collages that explore contemporary life through the lens of science fiction. Normalized institutions and daily rituals are presented as though to an alien. Portals appear presenting obscured figures converging with distant galaxies. We are invited to assess how our customs came to be, and how we as human beings operate relative to nature.

I like to make art, especially collage art. Art for me is a form of self care and entertainment. I encourage everyone I meet to make a collage because it feels good.
