Edoardo De Falchi is an enigmatic artist and designer working in various mediums. His oeuvre is defined by its distinctive approach to visual barriers, which separates the audience from the essential elements of the source material. By obscuring identities and hiding advertisements, De Falchi invites the viewer to participate in the act of interpretation and uncover the hidden meanings within his work.
Collage is working with contradictions. Whether I’m playing with found materials to experiment, to get new ideas, or proceeding oppositely, from concept to build unique views, the collage will show off its double face: the source or the parts it is made of and the assembled result. These faces are always different but often opposite. So then, I think collage is not just expressive freedom but a language that mainly deals with contradiction (logical and linguistic, social and political, ethical and aesthetically). While playing with the meaningless dirty scraps of reality, a collage can shortly figure out some meaningful metaphor for the universe.
