Collage is my most natural medium to communicate visually. It reflects the way I connect with my reality, my imagination, my emotions, my personal memory and it allows me to play with a vast range of references and languages. My first exhibition, when I was 19 years old, included a collection of collages on cardboard boxes, but since I remember, I used to make assemblages and images with remains of wood, branches and leaves, discarded objects, also using fragments of my drawings and photographs.

Recently, I consider many of my collages as an experimental storyboard, adding a narrative intention that depicts my personal experiences through a wide range of media and disciplines, compiling a collection of references that I like to name as “Ghosts”. Their voices, words, images, sounds, spaces or presence, usually have an intriguing echo or inspiration on my creative process.

I feel that collages are like an alchemy. They generate a connection between image, language, memory, materiality and time that ends in a layered conjunction of discordant fragments transforming each other into a poetic / abstract experience.

I am an interdisciplinary artist, born in the the Mexican Caribbean, who integrates through collage, printmaking, sculpture, painting, performance, and sound, a body of work that is organized in different projects in a similar way to a symphony, and that refer to the path of a hurricane as a regeneration process. The imaginary of these projects feeds on personal memories as well as different references from music, poetry, and art history.
