With a delicate touch, Vónbjørt Vang creates compositions from the debris of discarded print media. Her collages are characterized by their poetic qualities that balance form and color, offering a unique perspective into structural details of the human body.
Collage is my artistic exploration of past visual and semantic identities. By assembling past imagery and freeing them of their original context, I am quite drawn to how they can become new, lyrical, and mysterious stories, informing our understanding of our present-day lives in new and visually interesting ways.

I use paper from discarded books and old vintage magazines. Always analog. I am also a poet and a librarian by profession, so I have a special bond with paper and books. My process is accessible and intuitive, and I get drawn to the combination of saturated colors and shapes. Collaging, to me, is about mystery and intimacy. Some of my work is abstract, but I find that there are always fragments of hands or other parts of the body present in my works.
